Pole Dancing

So This weekend the Mrs put the Dancing pole up in the kitchen . She had been doing classes for a while now and said they were quite tough. When she said tough I obviously thought as in “girl” tough not man tough . So she showed me a few moves and I thought I have to give that ago and see how hard it actually is . 10 mins later I had a bit of a sweat on ,but was surprised how hard it actually is . The fact I lift weight and Can handle my bodyweight with ease helped ,but still it was tough and a good workout yet still fun .

I would defiantly recommend getting one of these pole’s and investing in some lesson’s . alongside weight training this is defiantly a good and different way to exercise whilst being enjoyable and Tough .

High Blood Pressure !!!!

Things You can do to prevent Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

I was in the ABS Personal Training Studio in Dublin the other day and a client told me they had Hypertension. They then asked me advice on how they could prevent High Blood pressure.

Luckily for me I recently finished an ISSA course In exercise therapy, this gave me the idea to write a post about Hypertension.

Here are a list of steps that can help prevent and treat High Blood pressure.

  • Maintaining a healthy Bodyweight.

Overweight people are more than twice as likely to suffer from high blood pressure.Small decreases in body fat levels can help with lowering blood pressure.

  • Alcohol Intake

Guess what too much alcohol raises blood pressure. Good news is that this works both ways .

  • Smoking/Cancer Sticks

Smoking restricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure, it also increases the risk of heart disease.

  • Minerals

Apparently minerals such as Calcium,Magnesium and potassium can help with hypertension sufferers.

  • Exercise

I like to save the best untill last. Exercising regularly can help with heart disease, Blood pressure,maintaining a healthy bodyweight and Strengthening of your cardiovascular system . So get of your backsides and start exercising.

How to waste 20 hours of your life and €157 !!!!

I was in the Personal Training Studio today when one of the other Personal trainers showed me this add and I thought I have to write a blog post on it … as It simply annoyed me !!.

Sounds good doesnt it ….

Well Lets look at this add a little further shall we .

4-8 weeks for a more “toned” bottom and thighs. So firstly what is toned ? Well you can’t tone a muscle . A muscle wont become a different shape by “tonning” it . It either gets bigger or smaller from using a resistance of some kind (Dumbbells,Bodyweight etc) . Now if you muscle gets bigger and your body fat gets lower than bingo you will look toned , lean, ripped whatever you want to call it .

So for two months you must wear this belt for 2 and a half hours a week . That’s a lot of time when you think about it just to train two portions of your body supposedly . Personally I would rather spend 45 mins of Actually real training 3 times a week performing some resistance or hitt training and train my “full body” Whilst getting fitter,stronger and burning some extra calories . Lets be real hear you’re not exactly going to exert yourself and expand energy (calories) by wearing a belt for 30 mins a day whilst it sends electronic pulses through your body . Remember to get toned you have to drop body fat to do this you need to create a calorie deficiency . IE expand more calories than you use . Whats going to expand more calories ? a belt around your arse electrocuting you or Hard work in the gym ??? I’ll let you decide .

Talk about making Things complicated . 99 intensity levels WOW…

Ok thanks for that …. There should be only one Intensity in my eyes and that’s High …. Fast Training = Fast results .

Then there is that magic word once again toning programmes …. Remember you can’t tone a muscle . It’s a combination of diet and training.

Next ….

A deep effective muscle contraction “ honesty where do they get this claim from . When a muscle contracts it contracts that’s it , it doesn’t think to its self im going to contract deeper this time . It’s either all or nothing ,there is not in between when it comes to muscle contraction .

Now what I will say is muscle fibres are different. Certain training will use different types of muscle fibers. example low intensity training will use slow twitch muscle fibers whilst high intensity training will use fast twitch muscle fibres . In simple terms .

Now For the grand finale ….

This line is basically a load of words strung together to make this product have some sort of creditability . There is actually nothing in this line that says it has been proven to work !!!!!! Just makes it sound good really

At the end of the day people, You must start realising that there is NO magic answer to getting in shape .

Train hard often and right , Eat clean often and right and your body will end up hard, Lean and right .It might not happen overnight but did the way you have ended up looking now happen overnight its taken years to get the way you are now . So be patient and stick to real training and it will happen for you .
